The Asian Youth Games are scheduled to take place in Manama, Bahrain, from October 21 to 30.

The much-anticipated games will feature athletes aged 14 to 17 from across the continent, comprising 21 sports.

Unlike previous editions, football has been excluded from the list of events, while futsal and e-sports have been introduced.

So far, only two editions of the Asian Youth Games have been held: the first in Singapore in 2009 and the second in Nanjing, China, in 2013. The third edition was initially planned for Sri Lanka in 2017 but was later relocated to Japan before being postponed indefinitely. In 2021, China was set to host the Games after Indonesia withdrew, but the event was ultimately canceled due to the COVID-19 pandemic.

Uzbekistan was offered the opportunity to host the Games this time but declined, leading to Bahrain being selected as the host nation.

The Maldives Olympic Committee (MOC) has confirmed that Maldives will in participate in this much-anticipated tournament. Additionally, the MOC announced that the Maldives will also compete in the Islamic Solidarity Games in Riyadh, Saudi Arabia, in mid-August, as well as the long-overdue South Asian Games (SAG), set to take place in Lahore, Pakistan.
