Maldivian champions T-Rex Basketball Club has defeated Thimpu Majics of Bhutan on the opening day of SABA Club Championship.

The very first edition of the South Asian Basketball Association’s signature Club Championship started yesterday in Chennai. T-Rex managed to defeat the Bhutanese side by 71-47.

T-rex managed to get a comfortable lead in the first and second quarters of the game – they were up by 10-33 by the start of the third quarter. Although Thimpu Majics managed to somewhat recover the deficit, T-Rex managed to end the game with a commanding result.

One of the three foreign players of T-Rex, Gaurav Chandel, displayed a standout performance in yesterday’s game; eight rebounds, eight steals and 26 points. Mandeep Singh also stood out by scoring 23 points.

In the other game of the SABA Club Championship yesterday, Sri Lanka’s Colombo BC defeated Nepalese side Times BC by 71-66.

T-Rex BC will face Colombo BC in today’s game of the SABA Club Championship.
