T-Rex Basketball Club faced another tough challenge in today’s SABA Club Championship 2025 clash, succumbing to the Nepalese side, Times BC. The defeat comes after a hard-fought encounter, marking T-Rex’s second loss in three games.
Following a narrow defeat to Colombo BC the previous day, T-Rex was eager to return to winning ways. They started strong, edging out a slim 20-18 lead by the end of the first quarter. However, Times BC mounted a determined comeback late in the second quarter. With just under three minutes remaining before halftime, T-Rex found themselves struggling offensively, stuck at 31 points while Times BC surged ahead, scoring 14 unanswered points to take a commanding 40-31 halftime lead.
The struggles continued into the third quarter as Times BC maintained their momentum, outscoring T-Rex 16-8. This left the Maldivian side trailing significantly going into the final period. Despite a valiant effort in the fourth quarter—where they outscored Times BC 20-11—T-Rex could not fully close the gap, ultimately succumbing to defeat.
While the loss today crushes the club’s hopes of silverware, T-Rex has already demonstrated its potential in making its mark on the regional stage, including a dominant victory over Bhutan’s champions earlier in the tournament.
T-Rex has one game left to play in the championship before returning home; the clash against Indian champions Tamil Nadu BC on Monday.
