The 29th MBA Championship 2025 tipped off with two explosive matchups at Youth Center Indoor, as Raptors Basketball Club and Kings Basketball Club delivered commanding victories in their season openers.
Raptors kicked off the tournament with an 89-64 win over Royals Basketball Club, setting the tone for a competitive championship. A strong second quarter, where Raptors outscored Royals 32-19, proved decisive as they maintained control throughout the game. M. Alaan Irfaan led the charge with 18 points and 6 assists, while M. Aik Wajeeh and A. Raid Saleem contributed 15 and 14 points, respectively.
On the defensive end, M. Shaun Minthaz and Ayham A. Hameed controlled the boards, combining for 19 rebounds. Despite M. Ayden Ahmed’s all-around effort for Royals, putting up 14 points, 15 rebounds, and 9 assists, his team struggled with efficiency, shooting just 31% from the field compared to Raptors’ 48%.
The second game of the night saw Kings Basketball Club deliver a statement victory with a 134-47 demolition of Talons Basketball Club, marking one of the most lopsided results in recent MBA history. Kings came out firing, overwhelming Talons with a 43-8 first quarter and never looking back. M. Sabeeh Thaufeeg led all scorers with 23 points, followed by I. Naseem with 20 points, while M. Jidhaadh Ibrahim Yaadh added 16 points.
Kings dominated inside, scoring 86 points in the paint, and forced 47 turnovers, stifling any offensive rhythm from Talons. On the boards, A. Amzar Mohamed secured 11 rebounds, while A. Amzar Mohamed and A. Musthafa orchestrated the offense with 7 and 6 assists, respectively. Talons, struggling throughout, found little offensive momentum outside of Y. Avan Ubaidulla, who posted 14 points and 9 rebounds.
With these dominant performances, Raptors and Kings have made an early statement in the 29th MBA Championship, setting the stage for an intense competition ahead. Both teams will look to build on their strong starts, while Royals and Talons must regroup quickly as they prepare for their next challenges in the tournament.
