A brand new handball tournament titled ‘Dhivehinge Handball Cup’ is being planned to be held in Malaysia.

The tournament will take place in October and is the first of its kind – one organized by Maldivians living abroad in Malaysia

Maldivians residing in Malaysia, both students and those with work visas, will be able to participate in the teams, with an additional player allowed to be listed. The opportunity to participate will be opened in the next few days, stated the organizers.

The format of the tournament will include either a group stage or a round-robin, followed by a semifinal and a final. The top seven players will be awarded, as well as the player of the tournament and a trophy for the champions.

Organizers say the aim of the Dhivehinge Handball Cup is “to encourage youth engagement, healthy competition, and cultural bonding among Maldivians abroad”.
