New Radiant Sports Club held a signing ceremony last night, having five new players transferred in alongside head coach Ali Suzain.
The ceremony, held at the conference hall of Dhimyaathu Stay, saw the players and the coach seal their transfers to one of the most decorated football teams in Maldives.
It was an especially remarkable night for New Radiant as the previously confirmed return of Ali Ashfaq was put to paper. Ashfaq was reportedly joining NRSC ahead of the FAM League Cup in May, but did not play the tournament. His last appearance was for Super United Sports during the 2023 season before being sidelined after suffering an injury.
Ali Ashfaq and Ali Fasir, two of the greatest strikers in Maldivian football, both had some of their career-defining seasons wearing the blue jersey of New Radiant.
Two of the signings for New Radiant were from the defending champions of Dhivehi Premier League Maziya SR players – defender Mohamed Irfan and striker Hassan Raif Ahmed.
Two key players from the now-withdrawn Super United Sports – Ahunaf Rasheed and Mohamed Nizaam have also signed for the Blues during last night’s ceremony.
New Radiant Sports Club had recently made a request to rejoin the Dhivehi Premier League, after Super United Sports announced earlier this week that the club is withdrawing from first division football. New Radiant had been semifinalists in both the latest editions of the FAM Second Division.
