Naba Nishan, the only Maldivian player still in the singles, has qualified for the semifinals of ITF Maldives Junior Open 2025.

Of the thirty-two players from ten countries competing in the girls’ singles main draw, only four players remain, as the J30 tournament in Male’ has reached its semifinals.

The fifteen-year-old reached the semis after the quarterfinal game this afternoon, defeating Elizaveta Zelenova, a Russian player of the same age. The score stood 6-1, 6-1. Naba’s quarterfinal opponent had defeated her Maldivian counterpart Manha Mohamed Ali before facing Naba.

Naba will go out against Seunghyun Cho of South Korea in the semifinals.

Besides Naba, no other Maldvian made it to the quarterfinals in either the girls’ or the boys’ divisions. In the doubles event, although Naba and her partner Nayara have been knocked out, Aaraa Aasal Azim is playing the doubles semifinals this afternoon, alongside her Thai duo, Tarita Hongsyok.
