Maziya Sports and Recreation has eliminated Club Valencia out from the FAM U19 Championship in tonight’s 2-1 win, progressing to the semifinals on top of the five-team group.
Winning four out of four games, the young Green Boys are the most in-form team heading to the knockouts; Maziya had scored an average of 4.0 goals per game in the group stage.
Despite ending up second in Group B, debutants Odi Sports Club are unbeaten as well. With two clean sheets and just one goal conceded in three games, Odi Sports end the group stage as the side with the strongest defensive record in all of the Youth Championship this season.
Odi Sports is just as strong on the attack as they are on the defensive; they’ve scored three goals against Victory SC and six past Super United Sports.
The boys in white also managed to hold off reigning champions TC Sports Club in the group stage.
The young green boys of Maziya will return to Galolhu Stadium on Wednesday evening, as they clash with Odi Sports, the newest club in Maldivian top flight football, in the battle for a spot in the final.
