Goat SC has defeated RDL on penalties, winning the very first West End Futsal Tournament.

The tournament set in Hulhumale’ Phase 2 had kicked off on 15th November, and played 63 games in total; an eight-group round-robin of 32 clubs.

Goat SC took the lead in the 18th minute; an assist from Ahmed Muneez (Tree) led to a goal by Ibrahim Sinaah (Sinaa). RDL equalized in the 28th minute of the game, with the goal from Ahmed Amnu, which was assisted by Maaish Rasheed. Two minutes later, RDL completed the comeback with a goal from Hamdhoon, assisted by Hazim Fauzy.

Goat SC managed to equalize just two minutes before the end of normal time, courtesy of the goal from Muneez, assisted by Ali Shiyah (Shiyalhey). Goat SC went on to win the penalty shootout scoring all three spot kicks as substitute goalkeeper Vishaan (Vithalhey) managed to keep out all of RDL’s penalties.

Goat SC has been wildly successful on penalties. Every game of Goat’s knockout stage; Naivaadhoo, Xephrys and Faigathalhaa, all succumbed to Goat SC on the penalty spot.

RDL had to defeat JK Sports Club on penalties in their semifinal game. The runner-ups were having goal fests of wins prior. RDL won their quarterfinal game with six goals and a clean sheet. They had scored eight past LT Sports in the round of sixteen.

King of the tournament was awarded to Ismail Wajeeh (Wajje) of Goat SC, and Naufal Mohamed was named as best coach. KFT’s Ahmed Hamdhan was awarded for scoring the most goals in the tournament, and team ‘Uragan’ won the fair play team award.

The West End Futsal Tournament 2024, organized by West End Sports Club, is hosted in partnership with Hulhumale’ Development Corporation HDC. This is the tournament’s very first edition. The media partner of WEFT is Sidibari.
