Promising surfer Sayyid Salahudheen wins the Junior Open by defeating Yousuf Kayan Hamdhan Zaki this evening.
Riding the very last waves of this year’s Mulikolhu Raalhugandu, Sayyid and Kayan scored 18.00 and 12.83 respectively.
Just as Ammadey’s performance in the Men’s Open final, Sayyid’s best waves in the Junior Open were his first (9.67) and fourth (8.33) waves. The combined score of Sayyid, a whopping 18.00 points, is the highest of any heat in this year’s DSL so far.
Despite riding just three waves in the Junior finals, Yousuf Kayan gave a strong fight, scoring 4.33 and 8.50 points in his first and third waves.
On top of winning the Junior Open, Sayyid also made it to the Men’s Open semifinals, where he lost to Ismail Rasheed by a gap of 4.0 points.
