Victory Sports Club have made their entrance into the Dhivehi Premier League 26/27 season with a commanding 5-1 win over TC Sports Club tonight.
The revamped squad, with Mohamed Shiyaz (Mohan) at the helm, lined-up with eight out of the starting eleven making their DPL debut in red tonight. Ahmed Maaish Rasheed and Hussain Shareef Mohamed, both went up against their former team TC Sports Club.
Just as the season’s opening game, it was a penalty kick that opened the scoring tonight. A blunder by the TC goalkeeper Daniel Emanuel Eyibio against Hussain Shareef cost them a goal. Victory’s Uzbek midfielder Mirkalol Kasimov Kenzhayevic was touched by the goalkeeper but had too much power in it to be punched away.
TC managed to equalize within seven minutes from restart, as Maayiz Waheed headed it in from a cornerkick.
Although the score remained level at half-time, Victory took the upper hand in the second half. From thye 66th minute up to the final whistle, Victory found the net four times. Victory’s half-time substitute Ahmed Hassan gave Victory the lead back, with a flick from a cornerkick. Three minutes later, Ibrahim Rizuvan struck a rebound ball into the roof of the net. Rizey scored another from the spot, after Hassan Nazeem was brought down by TC centre-back Hassan Eenaaz.
The fifth and final blow to TC was a header by Victory’s latest signing, Alhaji Gero.
