‘The Badminton Club’ has partnered with BAM and Dhiraagu to launch a brand-new badminton tournament with six age categories.
The recently formed badminton club announced that the tournament will be held in the first week of September. The Maldives Junior Open will feature six different age categories of shuttlers: U9, U11, U13, U15, U17, and U19.
A division for SO and Para athletes will also be featured, separate from the open category.
The tournament, which will be held in the Ekuveni Badminton Courts in Male’, will soon be open for registration, stated the organizers.
The Badminton Club, an initiative by the former Sports Minister Ahmed Mahloof, is described by him as a passion project that aims to “support the development and promotion of the sport across the Maldives”.
On a social media post, Mahloof wrote that “We look forward to welcoming players from all over the country as we aim to make this a memorable experience, In Sha Allah”.
