DPL Champions Maziya are out of the FA Cup after losing on the penalty shootout against Buru SC in the final game of the quarterfinals.

Buru SC made a quick comeback in the second half after trailing behind by two goals. After Gasim Thoif scored in the 70th minute, the equalizing goal was scored by Diawandou Diagne just two minutes later.

The scoring had started after a goalless first half. Hamza Mohamed scored the opener in the sixth minute of the second half. Maziya widened the lead with Ilan Imran’s strike in the 62nd minute.

Both Ilan and Hamza converted their respective penalty kicks as well, and so did Ahmed Aiham, Haisham Hassan and Ibrahim Aisam. The kicks from Sifaau (Kuroa), Luis Almeida, and Samooh Ali were failed.

Buru SC’s captain Ali Hamdhaan missed his penalty, and so did the kick from Shamveel Mohamed. The rest of the takers all successfully converted their kicks. Alaaeldin Nasr Elsayed, Ahmed Abdhullah (Lily), Abdhullah Yameen (Yaanu), Hudson Dias, Diawandou Diagne, and Mohamed Naisam Nadheem all managed to score from the shootout.

After a tiring sixteen kicks, Buru came out on top, handing Maziya just its second defeat in the entire season.

Buru SC will face TC Sports Club in the semifinals. The winner will take on either New Radiant SC or Blue SC in the final.
