The sixth game week of the Dhiraagu Dhivehi Premier League 2025 has begun, with Maziya Sports and Recreation defeating Club Valencia 5-0 this evening.
Maziya’s opening goal came in the seventeenth minute – Ilan Imran tapped it in from inside the six-yard box, after Valencia defense line failed to clear a rebound shot from Hamza Mohamed. The first half ended 1-0.
It was Ilan who restarted the scoring for Maziya – curling in another rebound ball which landed on his feet – in the third minute of the second half.
Valencia kept paying the price for their defensive mishaps as a failed clearance resulted in Maziya’s third goal, with Sergio firing in from the right edge of the six yard box.
In the 58th minute, Ilan’s low ball from in front of the D area cut through the Valencia defense line for Ahmed Aiham to strike it in and make it four.
Sergio got his second goal and the fifth for Maziya, heading in a corner kick by Aiham in the 90+5th and the final minute of the game.
With the two goals and an assist against his former club, Ilan Imran was awarded the player of the match award – becoming the youngest player in DPL history to earn a POTM.
Maziya started the game on the back of a huge win against Green Streets last week. Although Odi Sports and New Radiant are also unbeaten this season, Maziya are the only team to have won all six games of the season so far.
Notably, Maziya have scored 4.83 goals per game on average this season. Their 29 goals in six games is more than that of the bottom-six teams combined.
