Maziya Sports and Recreation striker Ilan Imran and Hassan Raaidh from F.Nilandhoo have been selected for the senior national football team of the Maldives.
The two teenagers will join the national team for two games to be played away in Sri Lanka on September 6th and 9th. Ilan and Raaidh both have previously played for the U19 National team.
The national team squad is selected for the upcoming inaugural edition of the South Asian Super Cup, an impromptu clash between the two nations.
Alongside Ilan and Raaidh, some others have earned back their spots in the national team after having previously been snubbed. Hisham Saleem, the Club Eagles defender, was one of them. The former U19 national team captain, Ahuzam Rasheed has also been named in the squad.
Notably, the SAFF-championship winning goalkeeper, Mohamed Faisal has also re-entered the national team. The 37-year-old has recently signed for Buru Sports ahead of the upcoming season. Hussain Shareef of Maziya SR, the first-choice goalkeeper in recent years, , has been sidelined due to injury.
Two of Odi Sports players, CB Ahmed Nu’man and Haisham Shareef have been left out of the squad due to injury. Club Eagles midfielder Nisham Mohamed is also unavailable due to injury.
