Fathimath Nabaaha and Aminath Nabeeha are champions of Women’s Doubles at the Zambia International 2024.
Nabaha and Nabeeha have defeated Sri Lankan pair Hasini Ambalangodage and Hasara Wijarayathne in the final game of Zambia International’s women’s doubles.
The Revival SC pair won the final game by winning two sets straight: 21-16 and 21-19.
Naba and Naby did a comeback last night against an Azerbaijani duo in the semifinals of women’s doubles. The semifinal results were 19-21 / 21-15 / 21-14.
The twins faced Zambian natives Mabo and Tukuza Mbewe in the quarterfinals, comfortably defeating the home side with 21-4 and 21-6.
This is the first BWF sanctioned Gold medal for Maldives since 2019 when Maldives won two gold in Pakistan Series. Zayan and Naba had won mixed doubles at the time. And just as today, Nabaha and Nabeeha had won gold in women’s doubles in Pakistan.
In addition to winning gold in women’s doubles in Zambia, Nabaha has won bronze in women’s singles as well as bronze in mixed doubles with teammate Zayan Zaki.
The Revival SC players had a busy quarterfinals day yesterday, with a total six quarterfinals games played across women’s doubles, men’s doubles, women’s singles and mixed doubles.
The Zambia international is one of two BWF circuit tournaments that the Revival SC players are taking part of. For the next stop in the tour, the team will be travelling to Botswana, to compete in the Botswana International.
