This year’s national handball tournament has come to an end as G.B. Sports and Red Hawks are crowned men’s and women’s champions respectively.
G.B Sports Club became winners of the men’s tournament after defeating Future Sports by 35-34 in the final game played on Wednesday.
Red Hawks had defeated Oryx, the title defenders of the women’s tournament, by a score of 29-24.
The male and female leagues both were played in a double round-robin format, with three teams playing each other twice to decide the finalists.
The second division of the national handball tournament ended last night, with Zefrol taking the gold medal. Zefrol defeated Isleno by 19-09 in the final.
Men’s champions in the 2nd division are Thulhaadhoo Young Eagles Sports (TYES), who defeated Odi Sports Club by 18-16.
In the second division of national handball, a total of 26 teams competed in the women’s tournament, while 16 teams competed in the men’s.
