Club Maldives Cup has kicked off this evening at Hulhumale’ Rehendhi Turf for its 18th instalment. It is the main CMC event and is the culmination of Club Maldives’ futsal season.

Twenty-eight clubs across seven groups are to compete for the prestigious futsal title. Knockout stages are scheduled to kick off from 7th October, with fixture draws to be determined by pot allocation based on group stage results.

This CMC season’s commencement was marked by the newly introduced King’s Cup, played between WAMCO, the defending champions of Club Maldives Cup, and JOALI Maldives, the defending champions of Resort Super League.

The Club Maldives Cup was preceded by CMC Classic, Eighteen Thirty, and the King’s Cup. Eighteen thirty, the women’s CMC championship, ended yesterday with Police Club lifting the trophy. Team Kulhivaru Vuzaara were crowned champions of CMC Classic after last night’s final game against MMA SC.

Club WAMCO, newly crowned champions of last year, would have improved in confidence after the King’s Cup glory, and they seek out to defend the CMC title. Road Recreation Club, who had more experience in finals but were defeated in the final of 2023, are warming up for their redemption, so are the the likes of former title holders MPL, BML, MACL, STO and FENAKA.
