Aishath Hanaan Hussain Haleem and Hamna Ahmed have broken two national swimming records at the 59th MILO/MAS Malaysia Invitational Age Group Swimming Championship 2024.

Hamna completed the long course 100m backstroke event in 01:17.69, breaking the national record of 01:18.17 she previously held after she had broken the record in Japan’s Fuokaka last year, representing Maldives at the World Aquatics Championship.

Hamna’s new feat is the fourth Maldivian national record broken at the Championship in Malaysia.

Yesterday, in the long course butterfly 50m event, Hanaan broke the national record in her age category when she finished the race in 00:31.68.

Hanaan held the butterfly 50m record since she broke it in Thailand back in February when she reached the finish line in precisely thirty-two seconds (00:32:00). Hanaan was taking part in the British International Schools In Asia Invitational 2024 when she broke the record for the first time.
