Azneen Rashad, 35, has won gold medal in Sport Physique 170cm at the 15th World Bodybuilding and Physique Sports Championship, securing the title for the 3rd year in a row.
The championship, which the Maldives Bodybuilding Association had secured as the hosts, had been held at Canareef Resort, Addu City, and took place from 5th to 11th of this November.
Azneen had won gold last year of WBPF at Wonju City, South Korea in 2023, defending the title he first won in the 2022 edition of the championship, which was held in Phuket, Thailand.
The Sports Physique 170cm has been the category from which Azneen had won the most gold over the years. Leading up to the world championship, Azneen had won multiple awards this year, including 1st place in 14th South Asian Bodybuilding and Physique Sports Championship held in Male’ in June. He secured gold in the same category at the 56th ABBF Championship in Batam, Indonesia.
Maldivian bodybuilding athletes have won additional awards at this year’s world championship. Yoosuf Ayaan Rizvee, the Maldivian Junior Open Champion, had won silver in the Super-75kg category. And Shaaheen Ibrahim Didi secured a historic victory in the category of 55kg event, winning gold for the Maldives.
In addition to the collection of gold medals on the stage of bodybuilding in regional and global tournaments, Azneen Rashad is also the Bodybuilding Athlete of the year in both 2023 and 2024 at the Maldives Sports Awards. He had been the overall Athlete of the Year in 2023 at the MSA.
