Second-tier Biss Buru Sports Club is the champion of Male’ Regional League, as they become the first to secure a spot in the Dhivehi Premier League Qualifiers.

Biss Buru became champions after defeating Lorenzo Sports Club in their final fixture of the league’s second stage last night. Winning two out of three games, Biss Buru became champions on goal-difference over Club PK.

Despite falling to Club PK in the second fixture, Biss Buru were victorious in their clash against both Lorenzo SC and against United Henverians. Biss Buru started the second stage of the league by defeating United Henverians 2-1. Last night’s clash against Lorenzo ended in a 5-2 victory for Biss Buru.

Biss Buru will now be pooled into a six-club qualifying tournament for the next season of DPL. They will play a round-robin league against the sixth and seventh teams from the previous DPL season (TC Sports Club and Club Green Streets), and the other three champions from the ongoing regional leagues.

The top four teams from the qualifying tournament will be promoted to next season’s Dhivehi Premier League.
