Four Maldivian bodyboarders reach quarterfinals of Maldives Pro 2026, following the round of sixteen this afternoon.
Maldives Pro, part of the IBC’s World Tour Series, started off last Wednesday at Thulusdhoo’s Cokes surf break, with 12 Maldivian athletes competing in the Men’s Rising category.
Today’s round of sixteen saw Aamin Umar Moosa earn the highest overall point of the day, scoring 8.0 and 8.5 in his 3rd and 4th waves against fellow Maldivian athlete Eyan Ahmed. Aamin will face off with Hugo Naude of South Africa in tomorrow’s quarterfinals.
Ashraf Hassan qualified to the quarters with a 14.0 score, a 2.75-point edge over Ali Javed (Jaatte). Ashraf will be competing against Armide Soliveres Acuyo of the Spanish Canary Islands, who had scored 16.50 and tied with Aamin for the highest points of the day.
Ali Khushruwan, who took on just two waves and scored a 6.5 and a 7.0, will take on Nooh Mohamed Dhunaim Irushad, who also scored a 13.5 total in his respecitve RO16 matchup.
