Club MTCC are winners of Group A in the King’s Cup 2026, as all group stage fixtures have come to an end.
Courtesy of a hat-trick from the Brazilian Nattan Soares – the newest addition to an already stacked line-up – MTCC won tonight’s game against HPSN with a solid 5-0 and finishes the group stage with three wins in three games.
MTCC opened the scoring in the fifth minute, as Ali Shiyah fired into the roof of the net from the right flank. Three minutes later, the Brazilian struck low and hard from the centre, piercing through the HPSN defense line.
Following a long haul without a goal, Soares made it 3-0 in the seventh minute of the second half. It was Ali Maais who made it 4-0 with five minutes left on the clock. Soon after, Saamin provided the assist for Soares to complete his hat-trick.
STO takes win streak into quarterfinals, RRC on the brink of elimination
“It’s been just one day since the foreigner arrived. He had travelled two whole days”, pointed out MTCC coach Mohamed Fuhaidh on Nattan Soares in a post-match interview. “But what I have seen is all good things on his side… So, we look strong going into quarterfinals”.
In the second game of the night, Utheemu FC defeated Eight Four FC with a 3-1 scoreline. With this result, both Utheemu and Eight Four advance to quarterfinals, while HPSN is knocked out. Although Eight Four scored the opener with a strike from Ahmed Husaam, Utheemu went on to make a comeback – with second half goals from Mohamed Mazeen, Mohamed Muaad and Mohamed Rishmee. They finish as runner-ups of the group.
With Eight Four finishing third in Group A, they too have qualified for the quarters. Eight Four having finished with three points and a zero goal-difference means that the defending champions and Group B third place team RRC have been knocked out from the King’s Cup.
