In the second of the two friendly games against Bangladesh, Maldives ended up losing the game by 2-1.
Today’s game started with one change in the line-up; Hamza Mohamed was replaced by Ahmed Rizwan.
Midway through the first half, Maldives were the team to take the lead; Assisted by Hassan Naiz, Ali Fasir scored the opener. In the 23rd minute of the game, Fasir thrusted the ball into the bottom corner of the goal from inside the six-yard-box.
Fasir had scored a header against the home side on Thursday; the only goal seen in that game.
In Today’s game, however, Bangladesh took a different approach; they were not only more reckless in their tackles, the home side managed to make the most out of their big chances in front of the goal; equalizing just before half-time. Evading four defenders at once, Mujiburrahman Joni fired it from outside the box, the shot too powerful for goalkeeper Hussain to deflect it.
Bangladesh had dominated most of the second half, but Maldives had found big chances through counter-attack. In one such moment, in the 58th minute, Ali Fasir hit it well but the ball flew over the crossbar.
Neither side managed to take the lead until the 90+4th minute of the game, when substitute Papon Singh tapped in a low cross, completing the comeback for Bangladesh.
