The Maldives National Women’s Carrom Team have achieved silver medal at the 7th Carrom World Cup, at home in Male’.
The team that got Maldives into the historic first ever final in a Carrom World Cup, consists of Aishath Nahufa, Aminath Vidhaadh, Fathmath Rayana, Aishath Fainaaz, and Aminath Wisham.
Maldives reached the final in the women’s category after a 2-1 win over the United States. In the semifinal game, Fainaaz overwhelmed her opponent in two dominant sets of 25-11، 25-0.
In the doubles match of the semis, Aishath Nahufa and Fathmath Rayana far exceeded the performance of their American opponents, winning the game 23-4، 25-0.
The seventh Carrom World Cup is being held at Barcelo Nasandhura Hotel in Male’. the men’s national team managed to reach the semifinals just as they did in California in the 6th Carrom World Cup.
