Transfer ban and a 50k fine: Green Streets sanctioned by FAM

The Football Association of Maldives has imposed sanctions on Club Green Streets today, after the club forfeited the game on Thursday against New Radiant Sports Club.

Green Streets are being fined MVR 50,000/- and banned for the next transfer window. The club is ordered to pay the fine in full within fifteen days.

Citing the 9(g) clause of the association’s disciplinary code, FAM notified that Club Green Streets is banned from the transfers of players in and out of the club at the next transfer window.

Highlighting the seriousness of forfeiting games, FAM threatened to impose severe punishment should CGS repeat such behavior in the future.

What the FAM did not impose on CGS is a point deduction. This means the point table remains as it was; Club Valencia is relegated on the grounds of goal deficit.
