Amna Thazkiya Mirsaaadh has reclaimed the women’s long course national record in the 100m freestyle event.

The fourteen-year-old finished third in the first heat of the women’s freestyle event at the World Aquatics Championship 2025.

Thazkiya was the youngest of the four swimmers in the heat this morning. Yet she managed to touch the wall at 01:04.04, just 2.38 seconds behind the heat winner, Oziyokkhon Redjapova of Uzbekistan.

This was a 0.28-second improvement on the previous national record in the event, held by Ulya Shaig. Ulya had broken the record in Melbourne, Australia, earlier this year.

Thazkiya first broke the 100m freestyle NR at the Junior National Long Course Swimming Championship in Sri Lanka back in July last year. Her newest record is 1.49 seconds faster than the record she broke twelve months ago
