Club Eagles have maintained their position in the top four of DPL, after defeating Club Valencia 3-0 in this evening’s game.

The runner-ups of DPL have now extended their unbeaten run to four games. Although the Eagles struggled to take off early on in the season, the club has returned to its best form since the appointment of head coach Abdhulla Haneef (Benjo).

After a goalless first half, Eagles managed to find the breakthrough fifteen minutes into the second half – assisted by the Uzbek midfielder Abdhul Malik, Ibrahim Mahudhee Hassan scored a wonderful bicycle kick in the 55th minute.

Ibbe went on to win the Player of the Match award, having provided an assist to Ahmed Rizuvan as well. Rizey managed to dribble past the Valencia defense line and find the net with his strike in the 64th minute.

Eagles’ third goal was scored by the young substitute Laith Abbas in the 79th minute, timing his run to tap in the rebound ball after the Valencia goalkeeper saved Rizuvan’s shot.

Since game week four, Club Eagles have managed to draw against both rivals New Radiant and Odi, and win the following two games against TC and United Victory.

Before heading into the international break, Eagles had delivered the exact same score line of 3-0 as this evening, against United Victory on 8th November. While Eagles scored all three goals against Valencia in the second half this evening, they had scored all three goals against UV in the first half of that game in game week seven.

With this evening’s defeat, Club Valencia has missed out on the opportunity to rise to the top half of the table. With seven points and an overwhelming goal difference of minus-sixteen, a relegation battle might be looming for Club Valencia should they fail to recover back to form.
