Maziya Sports and Recreation have rescued a vital three points in this evening’s game against Club Green Streets.

Green Streets, who are in tenth place in the league standings, took the lead with a free-kick from Rilwan Waheed.

Green Streets was awarded a free kick from the left flank after Fawaz was brought down by Nashiu just outside the penalty box, before Rilwan stood up to curl the ball into the far corner of the net.

Sergio Iglesias equalized for Maziya midway through the second half, in the 68th minute. A build-up which started back from their own half of the pitch ended up in with Haisham crossing from the left flank for Sergio to tap in from the near post.

All of the attempts that followed were either blocked, saved on somehow thwarted by Green, and it seemed as though the defending champions’ winning streak was about to reach an end.

It wasn’t until the third minute of stoppage time that Maziya was able to pull off the winning goal. Timing his run to the near post once again, Sergio tapped in the low corner-kick from Aiham (Fatho).

This was the eleventh goal of the season for Sergio Iglesias. Sergio remains as the frontrunner in the race for the golden boot.

This was the third time in four games that Maziya left it late to score the winning goal. In their match against New Radiant in the previous fixture, just fifteen minutes of normal time had remained when Maziya scored their winning goal. Two game weeks prior to that, Hamza had scored the winning goal against Odi in the seventh minute of stoppage time.
