Odi SC’s President’s Cup debut ends all square with New Radiant

New Radiant Sports Club and Odi Sports Club fought to a 1-1 draw in Group B’s opening match of the President’s Cup 2026 this evening.

Debutants Odi Sports Club had to fight back after conceding early in the first half. New Radiant’s Sierra Leone player Yaya Billity scored an overhead kick from close range, after being set up by Alhaji Gero in the 19th minute.

Odi Sports Club equalized in the 54th minute – Muzdhaan Hassan’s attempt to break through the centre of the box resulted in New Radiant Sports Club’s Ahmed Inan conceding an own goal with a mis-timed tackle.

Both Odi and New had found goal scoring opportunities thereafter, but the score line remained locked at 1-1 till full-time.

Odi Sports Club, the debutant runner-ups of Dhivehi Premier League, are grouped with New Radiant Sports Club and Club Eagles in Group B of the President’s Cup. Club Eagles had earned the spot after defeating Club Eagles in the play-off game on Monday.

The opening game of the group stage saw Maziya defeat Buru Sports Club 1-0 earlier this evening.
