Odi Sports Club has knocked out Buru Sports in tonight’s semifinal of the President’s Cup 2026.
Odi scored twice in the second half, maintaining a clean sheet. Following an equally fought first half, Odi found the breakthrough in the sixth minute of the second half. Picking up a rebound ball from a corner kick, Odi SC’s right full-back Ahmed Aiham crossed it back into the area, and it was Islam Fekri who dove in with a header from out wide.
Winger Ahuzam Rasheed extended the lead in the 62nd minute, finishing off a counter-attack from the right wing and assisted with a through ball from Abdhulla Looth Ibrahim.
This was the second time Buru SC competed in the Cup, and this was the second time they had been knocked out in the semifinals. They had been knocked out in the semifinals of 2023 by Club Eagles in their debut season. Buru had qualified for the semifinals after defeating Victory Sports Club in the group stage.
Odi SC had drawn with New Radiant 1-1 and defeated Club Eagles by 4-2 to reach the semifinals as group leaders. They will face Maziya SC in the final match on Tuesday night.
The top-flight debutants Odi has previously won a silver medal at the FAM League Cup last May, and finished off the Dhivehi Premier League as runners-up. The only obstacle on their path to silverware had been Maziya SR, who had been crowned champions of both the League Cup and the DPL.
