Naba Nishan has bid farewell to the singles tournament of ITF Maldives Junior Open, following this morning’s semifinal defeat.

Naba played the semis against South Korean player Seunghyun CHO, and took the game to a third set. Despite losing the first set 6-2, she managed to get back in the game and win the second on a tiebreaker, ending in 7-6. The final set was almost just as long, as Naba did not make it easy on Cho. By the time the third set ended in 5-7, four hours and ten minutes had been played.

Naba had been the only player from the Maldives to qualify past the round of sixteen. The fifteen-year-old played the quarterfinals against  Elizaveta Zelenova, a Russian player of the same age.

Over thirty tennis players from ten countries competed in the girls’ singles main draw. The girls’ singles final will be played between Seunghyun CHO and Tarita Hongsyok of Thailand.
