This year’s Kendhoo Football Challenge has set up a semifinal battle between Winners Boys and Heylhi.

Heylhi had finished in second place with four points in three games. They had fumbled the lead against Winners Boys last Tuesday, as the latter pulled off a late comeback, making it 3-3 at full-time.

Heylhi managed to grab an all-important three points against FC Rivals on Thursday after a narrow 2-1 win.

Winners Boys ended the league stage in third place with three points from three draws. At odds with their name, Winners Boys have not won a game so far, but they are also undefeated. They are the only team to hold off Glorious Victory from winning – the two had played a goalless ninety minutes of football on Wednesday.

For yesterday evening’s game – the final game of the league stage – Winners Boys came onto the pitch with the possibility of getting knocked out if they lost to FC Rivals. Fortunate for them, WB managed another 3-3 draw, securing the semifinal spot.

The annual Kendhoo Football Challenege kicked off its eighth edition last Monday. A charity match was held the previous evening, as parents and students of Kendhoo School battled it out in heavy rain.

Tomorrow’s standalone semifinal will decide which team – Winners Boys or Heylhi – will face Glorious Victory in the final on Wednesday.
