In its extraordinary congress last night, the Football Association of Maldives (FAM) selected members for three different committees and hired an audit firm to delve into its finances for the past two years.

While FAM had reportedly invited 16 football clubs to participate, five clubs from the top division – United Victory, Club Eagles, Green Streets, Super United Sports and Buru Sports – all had boycotted last night’s congress. Third division side CBL had been invited but were not granted voting rights due to an administrative error.

Representatives from the Sports Commissioner’s Office and the Maldives Olympic Committee attended to observe the meeting.

The committees were selected as follows:

Appeals Committee: Mohamed Shafaaz Waheed, Azeena Abdhul Matheen, Mohamed Zaeem, Ismail Dhaanish, Ahmed Nazim Mohamed

Ethics Committee: Umar Mamdhooh, Mohamed Ibrahim, Aishath Riusha

Disciplinary Committee: Muaviz Rasheed, Mohamed Samaah, Hussain Rasheed, Ismail Zumail Rasheed, Bassam Rasheed.

In addition to forming the committees, FAM made the decision to hire a firm for auditing of its finances for the years 2023 and 2024.

Two parties had submitted their biddings. Prudent Chartered LLP proposed MVR 88,650.00 to do auditing for the two years. MHPA LLP proposed MVR 62650.00 to do auditing for one years (2023).

After review, FAM’s normalizing committee recommended Prudent Chartered LLP to be selected for the auditing.
