New Radiant has defeated United Victory in a hard-fought late showdown in tonight’s game of Dhiraagu Dhivehi Premier League.
With tonight’s win, New Radiant reclaims the top spot in the league table, having scored eight goals, the joint-most at the moment. The Blues have kept two clean sheets in two games – the only team in the league to do so. They remain one goal ahead in the advantage over Maziya.
United Victory saw their Egyptian players debut for the club tonight. New Radiant’s line-up remained similar to what it was a week ago, with Ali Ashfaq still yet to make an appearance.
A goalless first half saw New Radiant dominate both possession and the number of shots. The deadlock was broken on the 67th minute. Ali Fasir scored from a free kick, similar to the one he scored against TC Sports Club the previous weekend.
Sentey himself was the one who won the free kick, having been fouled by the UV defender. By that time, a total of twelve shots had been made by New Radiant strikers, most of which were near misses.
The goal that sealed the win came in the first minute of stoppage time – a high cross by Hassan Raaif was delivered to Nikson, who calmly headed the ball into the far corner of the net. The man of the match award was awarded to New Radiant’s Luis Gomez Da Silva.
After tonight’s game, New Radiant reclaims the top spot in the league table, having scored eight goals and conceded none – which is one more goal in advantage than rivals Maziya.
