The courts of Male’s Tennis Centre are prepared to host a J30 tennis tournament, the first ITF-sanctioned competition in Maldives.

The tournament, which features singles and doubles competitions in both girls’ and boys’ divisions, will be held from 18th to 28th August 2025.

Maldivian players will compete in both the qualifying rounds and in the main draw. The singles tournaments in both the girls’ and the boys’ divisions will see 32 players in the qualifying and 32 players in the main draw. The doubles tournaments will be played among 16 teams in the main draw of both girls’ and boys’ divisions.

Ignaz Mansoor, the tournament director, has said via Javiyani that 130 international players from around 35 countries will participate in the ten-day junior tournament.

As the host nation, the Maldives gets eight wildcards – four boys and four girls – in the main draw. “This is a golden opportunity for our juniors to compete directly against strong international opponents without having to travel abroad,” states the association.

The Maldives had hosted two ATF-sanctioned tournaments back in December, and will host two other ATF tournaments this September, in addition to this ITF-tournament being held this month.  says Ignaz in his Javiyani Interview.

Ignaz said that with the ongoing construction of a five-court tennis complex in Hulhumale’, Maldives is expected to host bigger and better tournaments in the future.
