Buru Sports have defeated United Victory to wrap up game week eight of the Dhivehi Premier League 2025.
Two goals by Buru just before half-time decided this evening’s game. Buru SC’s Alaa Naseer assisted Areen to score the goal following a 35th-minute corner kick. Escaping the marker just outside the six-yard box, Areen thrusted the ball in with his left foot to give Buru the lead against his former club.
Buru extended the lead in the 45th minute. A long cross from the left flank by Leevaan Nadheem found Hudson Dias at the penalty spot, who headed it in to make it 2-0. UV’s Egyptian goalkeeper Mustofa Ali was charging towards Hudson, but the Brazillian forward of Buru was able to reach the ball first.
After a goalless second half, Buru took home the win and the crucial three points, as United Victory is stuck at the bottom of the table with just four points in eight games. Buru SC’s Thoif Gasim, who recently got his first call-up to the national team – took home the player of the match award this evening.
With this evening’s victory, Buru SC has overtaken Victory SC to reach the fifth position in the league standings. Having won three games and drawn two more, Buru is just one point behind the fourth-placed Club Eagles.
