Odi Sports Club has earned a crucial three points, defeating Valencia 2-1 in this evening’s game of Dhivehi Premier League.
This evening’s hard-fought win will be crucial for Odi in the race for the runner-up title, as both New Radiant and Buru Sports remain relentless in their pursuit to overtake Odi.
In a feat of individual brilliance, Odi Sports Club’s newest signing, Ayaaz Ahmed, gave them the lead in the 38th minute, firing with his dominant left foot into the far post after beating multiple defenders around the D-Area.
Valencia equalized in the 72nd minute, with their number 9, Aidh Mohamed Javeez, heading in a corner-kick. The ball took the deflection off an ODI defender, misleading the goalkeeper.
Odi was able to take back the lead in the very last attack, in the final minute of added time. Reaching into a long cross, Ahmed Aiham headed a long cross back towards the penalty spot before Ganiu Atanda Ogungbe struck the loose ball with a bicycle kick.
Just as their comeback against TC Sports Club last week, Odi have rescued another crucial three points against a struggling Valencia. The boys in Yellow are, on the other hand, at risk of relegation. Valencia have earned just 8 points in 15 games.
Being stuck at ninth position, the threat of direct relegation looms for Valencia, should they not find a way back to winning ways in the next three games.
