Buru Sports Club has come back from behind to defeat Club Eagles in this evening’s game of the DPL, extending their unbeaten run to five games.

Club Eagles, who are fifth in the DPL table, came onto the pitch this evening hoping to get the three points and reduce the deficit between them and Buru. After a goalless first half, Eagles scored the opener with a strike from their right winger and star player, Ibrahim Mahudhee.

Buru eventually found the equalizer in the 83rd minute – when Hudson Jesus stole the ball from Eagles defenders and rolled it to Mohamed Naaim inside the box, from where the left-footed left winger struck low and hard into the far post.

Buru completed the comeback three minutes later; The Eagles goalkeeper had punched up a long shot from Ahmed Abdhullah, before the ball hit the crossbar and landed for Ibrahim Usama to tap it in freely.

Naaim scored the third goal for Buru on a counterattack in the first minute of stoppage time, striking from the same left flank of the area as he did for the first goal.

Eagles managed a second goal in the fifth minute of stoppage time – the newly signed veteran Shamveel Gasim was unmarked near the penalty spot, from where he headed in a rebound ball off a Buru defender.

This was Naaim’s tenth goal of the season, the second-most in the league behind Maziya’s Sergio Iglesias. As an attacking duo, Naaim and Hudson have scored a combined eighteen goals for Buru this season.

New Radiant’s loss to Victory in last night’s clash gave Buru the opportunity to overtake the Blues and climb to third place in the league stnadings. Both New Radiant and Buru are equal on points, with Buru having a healthier goal advantage.
