It took 630 minutes of top-flight football for Odi Sports to finally lose a game of the Dhivehi Premier League, as tonight’s game saw the defending champions Maziya extend their winning streak.
Maziya have now won all seven games – the only DPL club to do so – as they head into the November international break with 21 points and a 28-goal ratio.
Odi Sports and Maziya played a goalless ninety minutes, and an additional six minutes before Hamza Mohamed scored just before the final whistle. A sublime through pass by Ahmed Aiham (Fatho) found Hamza unmarked inside the area, from where he took on the Odi goalkeeper before thrusting the ball into the net.
This was Hamza’s fourth goal of the season and Maziya’s twenty-eighth. Maziya had conceded just two goals in seven games. Only New Radiant have a better defensive record than Maziya.
New Radiant and Maziya are the only clubs yet to be defeated. The Blues take on Green Streets this evening, followed by a clash between Club Eagles and United Victory at night.
