Buru Sports Club defeated newly promoted Victory SC 5-0 in last night’s Dhiraagu Dhivehi Premier League match.

The third game of the opening week produced yet another high-scoring result, with a strengthened Buru SC side in control from start to finish.

Buru’s star player Abdulla Junaid broke the deadlock in the 9th minute, firing from deep in Victory’s half with a strike that left goalkeeper Yaameen with little chance.

Foreign signing Hudson Dias added two more, one in each half, and his performance earned him the Man of the Match award.

The game closed with late drama in stoppage time. After striking the crossbar earlier, Mohamed Naaim (Helmet Jr) finally got his goal in the 90+2nd minute. Just a minute later, Naaim provided an assist, setting up 18-year-old substitute Azhadh Mohamed to score the fifth and final goal of the game.

With the five-goal win and three points, Buru climb to second place in the table. New Radiant remain top for now, holding a stronger goal difference after their six-goal victory against TC Sports Club on Friday.

All three of the games in the first week of DPL 2025 have seen fairly one-sided play. A total of 17 goals have been scored in just the three games.

Odi Sports will debut in the DPL this evening, taking on United Victory. The final game of the week will be between Club Green Streets and Club Valencia, which kicks off at 21:00 tonight.
