Kolhun’bu Futsal Cup, a one-day futsal tournament for Maldivians living in Sri Lanka, is scheduled to take place in Colombo this Sunday.
Eight teams in total will participate this year, and the tournament is to be held at the Maldivian Educational and Cultural Centre (Sosun Villa).
Speaking to Sidibari, one of the four individuals in charge of organizing the tournament, stated that they intend it to be more of a football fiesta than a futsal cup.
As Sri Lanka is one of the countries where most Maldivians live abroad, the organizers’ aim is for the Maldivian community in Sri Lanka to get together in one place and interact in person, thanking the staff at the Maldives Center who have been supportive in preparations for the tournament.
The title sponsor of this year’s Kolhun’bu tournament will be Swift Logistics. Aspire Academy and Body Tones are set to be the event partner and fitness partner respectively. Sidibari is named the media partner.
The co-sponsors of the cup are Island Perfume, M.N. Maldives, Cafe’ De Male’, The Hawks Pvt. Ltd., Obion MV, Ceres Harvest, AiNtz Kitchen and Print House.
This year’s Kolhun’bu Tournament is the very first, but the organizers plan to hold it again next year, and make it an annual tradition.
