Club WAMCO has successfully defended the Club Maldives Cup title with a decisive 4-1 win over Road Recreation Club (RRC). This is the first successful title defence in nearly a decade.
The last team to accomplish this feat was STO RC, who won it back-to-back in 2014 and 2015.
In the final, Abdulla Midhuhath Fahmy, also known as Bichard, struck first for RRC after Ali Shamis set up the opportunity. WAMCO made a strategic move by bringing fresh legs onto the pitch, and consequently, substitute Ibrahim Mahudhee scored, making it level just before half-time.
WAMCO eventually completed the comeback, when Ali Shiyah scored from an assist by Ali Reza Sheihlar. Instead of getting comfortable with a narrow lead, WAMCO took it up a notch, and Shiyalhey eventually completed the hat-trick. It was Ali Reza, the Iranian, who was awarded man of the match.

Most Promising Player award went to Ahmed Aflaaz. Ahnaf Rasheed of STELCO RC won the fair player award, and the Fair Play Team award went to Dhivehi Sifainge Club. Runner-up RRC’s fans were recognized with the Best Supporters award.
With their second CMC gold medal, Club WAMCO now boasts the same number of trophies as their new archrivals RRC, and that of United BML.
