Victory Sports Club has defeated Dhidhdhoo 4-3 to kick off the second round of fixtures in the Dhivehi Premier League 2026/27.
The match, played at Galolhu Stadium, was one of the two matches played at once this evening. The other game saw Gadhdhoo RC host TC Sports Club.
Three of the four Victory goals came in the first half. The first goal was a beautiful long-range chip by Ahmed Rizuvan in the 29th minute. Taking his chance at an empty goal after the Dhidhdhoo goalkeeper Mohamed Shifan went way out of the box to clear away a throughball, Rizuvan drove the ball with a single touch from near the left sideline just outside the final third.
Rizuvan assisted the second goal three minutes later, as Hassan Naiz struck it low from the center of the box. And in the 41st minute, Rizuvan scored from a narrow angle from the left-flank, having matched with a low pass from center-back Furkatjon which cut through the Dhidhdhoo defense line.
Victory conceded the first goal from the penalty spot – Defender Kholmatov had caught his hand on the ball as he attempted a sliding tackle. Tetteh Gideon converted the kick, barely evading goalkeeper Mohamed Yameen’s gloves.
Dhidhdoo’s substitute Hussain Zimyaan made it 3-2 after intercepting a blunderous control from Yameen.
Nine minutes left on the clock, it was Tetteh who scored a goal-of-the-season contender, a half-volley from just over the half-way line. Dhidhdhoo’s euphoria was shortlived, as it only took 55 seconds for Victory to take back the lead – an own goal on Dhidhdoo’s part in an attempt to clear a cross.
Victory are now on top of the table, with six points. They had defeated TC Sports Club in a massive 5-1 win against TC Sports Club in the opening fixture.
TC, who were playing away at Gadhdhoo Football Ground this evening, grabbed three points with a 4-2 win over the hosts.
