Club Valencia has earned a narrow win against Victory Sports Club.
The two archrivals faced each other Friday evening, in the first game of the DPL week 7. Just one goal separated the two as the final score stood 1:0.
This was the second win of the season for Club Valencia. Having defeated Club Green Streets in the opening game week, Valencia have struggled to get back to winning ways ever since. Valencia managed a goalless draw against United Victory in game week five, before being thrashed by Maziya SR the following week.
Valencia’s teenage captain Ethan Ibrahim Zaki played a pivotal role once again, as the boys in yellow grabbed the much-needed three points. It was a long cross by Ethan that assisted the header by the young striker Ahmed Athwan.
Reaching seven points in seven games puts Valencia in seventh position, overtaking United Victory. Friday’s loss has taken away Victory SC’s momentum they have been building over the past two game weeks, putting them at risk of sliding back – should Club Eagles and Buru SC win their respective games later this week.
