Club Eagles have built on their momentum and held Victory Sports Club to a 2-2 draw in last night’s game of DPL.
Victory who are sixth in the point table, had the chance to catch up with Eagles on points, should they have won the match. Taking control of the game early on, Victory scored two goals in the first fifteen minutes of the match.
The first goal resulted from a change in possession near the halfway line, after a control from Ismail Easa went wayward. The resulting counter-attack saw Vladamir Everton fire into the near post after beating Eagles’ last man Hisham Saleem at the D-Area.
A sixteenth-minute corner kick by Abdhullah Midhuhath Fahmy ended up in goal after Amdhaan’s diagonal header from the far post went uncleared.
Eagles were quick to narrow the lead, with Ahmed Rizuvan matching up with the rebound ball after the Victory goalkeeper saved it from a tight angle.
The equalizing goal came midway into the second half. Eagles captain Rizuvan curled in a low ball into the far corner of the net after cutting inside from the left flank.
With last night’s draw, Eagles are closing in on the third-placed New Radiant, reducing the difference to four points. New Radiant had lost yesterday evening’s match to Maziya Sports and Recreation.
Victory Sports Club continues to struggle with its irregular form. Just as New Radiant, Victory has also failed to win any of the three games of November. They had lost to Club Valencia just before the international break. Their game against table leaders Maziya last week ended in a 3-0 defeat.
