Maziya Sports and Recreation are on the verge of winning Dhiraagu Dhivehi Premier League after winning 3-0 against archrivals Club Eagles in tonight’s game.
All three of the Maziya goals were scored in the second half. Two were scored against a ten-man Eagles after Marvin Lebbie was sent off for a reckless tackle against Samooh Ali.
The first one, delivered from a 55th-minute corner kick by Ahmed Aiham, was scored by captain Samooh himself, heading in the ball at the near post.
The second goal came in the 79th minute, just after Lebbie was sent off. Hamza Mohamed crossed in a lowball from the left side for Ahmed Aiham to fire in from close range.
Six minutes later, Hamza made it 3-0, after taking on an Eagles defender from the right side of the penalty area and firing in from a narrow angle.
Eagles have been on the best form of their season prior to facing Maziya. They defeated Odi and TC with two goals and a clean sheet in both games. They went on to score three past United Victory and win last week’s game.
