Club Eagles has defeated United Victory 4-1 as Zain Zafar hit a brace in last night’s game of the Dhivehi Premier League.

This was the third consecutive win for Eagles. With a total of 22 points in 14 games, they climb to fifth in the league, overtaking Victory Sports Club.

Eagles found the UV net twice in each half of last night’s game. The 22-year-old winger Zain was the one to open the scoring for Club Eagles in the 32nd minute of the game. Eagles widened the lead just before halftime, courtesy of a strike from newly signed Mohamed Sabah Masroor (Sabaty).

United Victory narrowed the lead in the 59th minute, with a goal from Egyptian midfielder Mohamed Samir. Another goal from Zain just a minute later recovered the two-goal margin for Eagles, making it 3-1. Eagles’ Sierra Leone signing Ibrahim Lebbie and Zain Zafar have built an effective chemistry over the past few games, assisting one another in Eagles’ return to form.

A strike from the left side of the area by Ibrahim Mahudhee, assisted by Ismail Easa in the 88th minute, sealed the 4-1 win for Eagles.

Eagles have a chance to fight for a place in the top four, against Buru, Victory, and New Radiant. But the club’s coach, Abdhullah “Benjo” Haneef, has said in a recent interview that there is nothing to gain or lose. In his mind, besides the prestige of one-upping the rivals, a club ending the season in 2nd place or 6th place makes no difference, Benjo had stated.

Eagles have defeated Odi Sports Club in the final game of 2025, and TC Sports Club in the first fixture of January, winning both games by a 2-0 victory.
