The FA Cup has returned after four years, as seven clubs from the first division and one from the third division are competing in the final tournament of the season.
The tournament kicked off this evening with a clash between Club Eagles and Blue SC from the third division.
Blue SC, an offshoot of New Radiant, managed to take an early lead with a strike from Ahmed Faalih Lamrath.
Although Blues were leading at half-time, Eagles pushed back and took the lead mid-way through the second half. Ismail Easa scored from the spot to equalize in the 58th minute. They took the lead in the 73rd minute, as Zain Zafar scored from distance.
Blues turned things around in the final moments of the game, as substitute Abdhullah Iyadh struck in to make it 2-2.
Iyadh played his role in winning the resulting shoout-out, as Blues won it 4:3 to reach the semifinals.
Club Eagles, who finished fifth in the DPL, have had a rough end to the season. Although they managed to make it to the President’s Cup via play-offs, Eagles were knocked out on the first game.
