After a months-long recovery process, Maryam Kyleen Shirhan has returned to the court to take part in the Ramadan 3×3 Challenge 2025.

The 15-year-old had been sidelined for the past 11 months by an anterior cruciate ligament (ACL) injury during last year’s MBA Ramadan 3×3 Championship. The injury had forced her to miss out on the Under-18 Women’s Asia Cup 2024, for which the Junior women’s national basketball team had travelled to Shenzhen, China back in June 2024.

Concerns Mount as Kyleen Suffers Major Injury.

Prior to her injury, Kyleen had been impressive on both domestic and international courts: she played a pivotal role in securing Maldives’ first-ever medal in women’s basketball at the 2023 Indian Ocean Island Games.

The offensive point-guard was also a key player for the Maldives in the 2023 FIBA U16 Women’s Asian Championship in Amman, Jordan; she had scored 14.3 points per game, the highest of any player on the Maldives team in that tournament.

Kyleen’s recovery is good news for the junior women’s national team, who are preparing to compete at the SABA Under-16 Women’s Championship, which tips off on May 7th in Sri Lanka.
